It’s no secret that we’re a robot-seeking ad agency right now. But we always manage to turn up amusing stories in our research. So, on our quest for awesome hospital robot companies, we found one that makes Cowbots. Make sure you watch the video!
Sci-Fi books, movies and TV would have us believe that future robots will become more and more humanoid until we have trouble telling them apart from us fleshies. (Except, of course, for the ones that transform into 18-wheelers, Chevy Camaros, and Harrier jets.) But what if the next generation of robots will resemble something less bipedal and more bovine?
The latest developments in mobile robotics are trending toward the 4-footed variety, which facilitates the robot’s ability to negotiate stairs, open doors, carry objects, and most importantly, avoid constantly falling flat on their faces (or whatever the robot equivalent of a face is).
The U.S. Marines are even testing out a robotic “cow” with the imaginative (and militarily) named Legged Squad Support System or LS3. The LS3 can carry 400 pounds of equipment and walk 20 miles over uneven terrain before needing to be refueled. No word yet if it can provide milk, butter or in a worst-case scenario, hamburgers. Or how the LS3 might act in the presence of a mechanical bull.
